![]() Okay, so we could always enter voice chat and shout at the other person playing but what if you’re playing with a random person online and they don’t understand your language? The game as added in-game emotes which manage to get across the majority of the feelings you’ll experience whilst playing the game – all of which are universally understood. So, what’s different between the original game and this nicely polished sequel? As far as I can tell, other than the numerous improvements to the core gameplay, the two new features are the ability to throw and communicate with the other players. If you’re playing with multiple players then the game becomes somewhat easier as you can both move and interact independently from one another as you work towards the same goal – feeding the annoying customers! The disadvantage of this is that you can only control one at a time and you usually have to plan ahead in order to keep things running efficiently. When playing Overcooked 2 solo you’ll have control of two chefs whom you can alternate between at the touch of a button. If you’ve played the original Overcooked then you know what to expect – if not then you’re in for a treat as you’ll get to play the amazing combination of time management, frustrations, arguments and a lot of swearing at the TV! The game is made for multiple players as standard but this doesn’t mean that you can’t play the game solo – it’s just a lot harder. The new throwing mechanic is both useful and fun to use! So, you must travel across the land, learn to cooperate and discover new and exciting recipes so that you may take on the muffin monsters once more and lay them to rest once and for all. ![]() ![]() You’re given a brief intro to the game as you feed these baps of doom with the outcome being that you have satisfied them for now however, if they (jam)spread outside of the castle grounds then the entire kingdom is doomed. At this point, all I could think of was Dead Hungry which I reviewed a while ago! However, whilst it’s all shouting and dancing in the castle, in the nearby graveyard the bread has begun to rise from the dead – it’s a terrible catastrophic occurrence of “The Unbread!” So, once again it’s up to our unprepared chefs to head down to the graveyard in order to feed these self-risen zombies in order to appease their appetite. Unaware of his actions for reading the satanic recipe for creating bread, the king cheerily jumps around for joy that he finally got the chance to read such an elusive document. Kevin, the Onion Kings dog, seems reluctant for the Onion King to read the passages within this fabled book as he senses a great danger from deep within the cursed text however, the king ignores his concerns and continues to read out aloud the troubled recipe! “In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast…” The Onion King is cackling away in his castle at the fact that he has finally gained access to the one thing he wanted his whole life, a Nobel prize! As such, he’s received the “Necro-nomnom-icon” – which unfortunately doesn’t look like the Evil Dead one. Overcooked 2 begins with a rather creepy opening if I’m being honest. Only the names, places and vegetables have been changed… ![]() Oh no – it’s the night of the living Bread! ![]()

![]() The co-driver was muter than Helen Keller. Then, the game threw me on a test stage to go through it on my own. Prepare for a 12K character thingamajig, as I went through a complete season to gather enough thoughts to write about the game…Īfter starting the game, you immediately get a question: are you a beginner, intermediate, or an expert? As the previous Kylotonn games (especially 6 and 7) had a harder, somewhat boxy physical style (the best way to describe it is that they needed a sterile, relentless driving style), I set it to beginner, because let’s face it, playing a rally game on keyboards on a higher level isn’t that good. „PC Epic” – this subject will be discussed in-depth, as it deserves a page on its own -, which got the following text as a comment: „let’s hope that it will be slightly better than the previous titles.” By Thursday, I managed to get WRC 8 Press (it’s interesting how Epic Games Store has a separate press version…), and now, on Monday afternoon, I start translating what I began writing on Sunday morning. We reviewed the Switch version. On Wednesday, I got an email with a code. WRC 8 is available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. Using analogue controls is the only way to get the best out of it, but even then you’re not going be wowed by the game.Ĭut features, heavily downgraded visuals and inadequate controls make the Switch version of WRC 8 simply a lot less enjoyable. If the Switch is the only console you’ve got and you really want a serious rally experience by all means pick it up, but I suggest you change the controls straight away and get used to them. From the visuals to controls, the compromises are just too great. It’s a decent port of a very good game, but chances are you just won’t have much fun with it. As you can imagine, that control scheme takes some getting used to, and even then you might find the experience sub-par. Well, I say impossible: you can map both acceleration and deceleration to the right analogue stick if you wish, but then you’ll probably need to map the handbrake to another button. #Wrc 8 multiplayer proNeither the Joy-Cons nor the Pro Controller has analogue triggers for one, which makes measured acceleration and braking impossible. #Wrc 8 multiplayer simulatorIt’s a rally simulator that demands patience and skill, but the Switch is likely to interfere with both of those things. Fail to meet expectations, however, and you might find yourself looking for new opportunities. Perform well and your success will rub off on your team, raising their spirits. You’re not just taking part in race after race, there are training sessions and challenges to complete, people to manage, and research and development to perform. It really makes you feel like you’re part of team, and packs in plenty of variety to keep you glued to your screen. It has to be said that WRC 8‘s career mode is truly one of the best. If you’re happy with that, there are a lot of muddy tracks for you to christen with four wheels. #Wrc 8 multiplayer fullAll the single player modes are intact though, so you take part in a quick rally, get stuck into a career, or enjoy a full season free of any team management or other career-related fluff. You can take part in challenges where your results are posted to worldwide leaderboards, but that’s it as far as real human competition goes. Perhaps more problematic for some, the online multiplayer features of WRC 8 have also been eradicated from the Switch version. Though that’s not to say that WRC 8 on Switch is an ugly game the car models are still detailed and the environments are convincing enough as you speed though them. You’ll find that picture quality is reduced too, especially when playing in handheld mode where the dynamic resolution scaler really kicks in at times to keep the framerate smooth. That means the draw distance isn’t as good, many textures are blurier, and the environments feel emptier. On Switch, WRC 8 has undergone all the compromises you’d expect to get it running at a steady 30 frames per second. Though I’m left wondering if the Switch is really up to hosting any serious racing racing games at all at this point. The fact of the matter is, WRC 8 on Switch is by far the weakest version. And now that it’s available on Switch, you could also say that it’s the best rally game available on that format too, although with such little competition it’s faint praise. You can find out why in my review of the Xbox One version right here. #Wrc 8 multiplayer PcKylotonn did a really good job with WRC 8.Īvailable on PS4, Xbox One and PC since September, it’s one of the best rally games currently available. ![]() |
